SALE OF - 19TH/ 20TH JANUARY 2015 (SALE NO.03)

 

Much improved demand for 154,710 packages (9,906,594 kilos) on offer at irregularly dearer rates. 9.81% however, remained unsold.

The few best BP1s gained upto USC31 while brighter category were USC12 to USC36 dearer with mediums a strong feature opening at firm to USC36 dearer and thereafter sharply rose upto USC62. Lower mediums saw better enquiry at firm to USC46 above last prices with plainer descriptions fully firm to USC10 dearer.

The best PF1s shed upto USC20 with brighter sorts irregular ranging between firm to USC12 dearer to easier by a similar level while mediums met an irregular market varying between USC2 to USC10 dearer to easier by upto USC16 and some lines were neglected. Lower medium PF1s generally appreciated by USC2 to USC28 but some teas eased by upto USC10 with a few remaining unsold; plainer sorts were steady to USC10 above last rates.

The best PDUSTs eased by upto USC2 while brighter types appreciated by USC6 to USC14 but a few invoices shed upto USC6 with mediums a strong feature gaining USC10 to USC34. Lower medium PDUSTs saw better enquiry and appreciated by USC8 to USC24 while plainer types held firm to USC20 dearer.

The best DUST1s shed upto USC2 while brighter category were USC10 to USC24 above last prices with mediums USC6 to USC18 dearer. Lower mediums gained USC10 to USC20 while plainer sorts were irregular and varied between firm to USC12 dearer to easier by upto USC4.

In the secondary catalogues BPs were dearer while the PFs held value. Clean well sorted coloury Fannings eased but similar DUSTs appreciated. Other Fannings and similar DUSTs were irregular but on balance easier. BMFs were well absorbed

Pakistan Packers were again strong and dominant with more activity from Egyptian Packers, Yemen, other Middle Eastern countries, UK, Russia, Kazakhstan and other CIS countries. Sudan maintained interest but with less enquiry from Afghanistan. There was some activity from Iran. Somalia was more active at the lower end of the market.
