Fairly good demand for the 116,156 packages (7,582,902 kilos) on offer at most irregular rates and many more teas remained unsold without bids (27.88%). The few best BP1s on offer eased by upto USC40 while brighter sorts were however well competed for gaining USC6 to USC26; mediums were difficult of sale and discounted by upto USC76 and more with many teas unsold but a few invoices opened at firm to USC20 above last prices. Lower medium BP1s were a weak feature depreciating by USC8 to USC28 but plainer descriptions saw better absorption gaining USC6 to USC10 with improved lines substantially dearer. The few best PF1s available shed USC4 with brighter types easing by USC6 to USC16 and some teas were neglected while mediums were mostly irregularand discounted by upto USC30 and some lines were unsold. Lower mediums were barely firm to USC22 below last levels with a few lines remaining unsold while plainer sorts varied between USC4 to USC8 dearer to easier by upto USC16. The few best PDUSTs appreciated by upto USC10 with brighter categories firm to USC26 dearer while mediums gained upto USC20. Lower mediums were firm to USC18 above last prices but some teas were unsold towards the close with plainer types firm to USC22 dearer but many lines were neglected. The few best DUST1s on offer gained upto USC3 while brighter types were irregular varying between firm to USC20 dearer to easier by upto USC30 with mediums irregular and ranged between USC6 to USC16 dearer to easier by upto USC5. Lower mediums saw irregular interest varying between USC10 to USC16 dearer to easier by upto USC3 with plainer teas firm to USC16 below last prices where sold. In the secondary catalogues the BPs and PFs appreciated. Clean well sorted coloury Fannings gained while similar DUSTs held value. Other Fannings were dearer while similar DUSTs were firm. BMFs were well absorbed. Egyptian Packers, Yemen and other Middle Eastern countries lent strong support but Pakistan Packers, UK, Russia and Iran showed less interest. Activity from Afghanistan was much reduced while Bazaar purchased tea for price. Sudan maintained interest. Somalia was active at the lower end of the market.
