CTC LEAF: 29,403 packages of teas on offer met with a fair demand which slackened as the sale progressed.

BROKENS: BOPs met with less demand and prices were easier by Tk.4/- to Tk.6/- and these generally sold between Tk.186/- and Tk.190/-. Smaller Brokens were also easier by Tk.3/- to Tk.5/-. The remainder eased with quite substantial withdrawals in this category.

FANNINGS: Good liquoring Fannings initially met with a fairly good demand and were selling at a drop of Tk.2/- to Tk.3/- but as the sale progressed, demand eased quite considerably and rates dropped by Tk.5/- to Tk.7/-. There were fair withdrawals,. These varieties realised prices between Tk.187/- and Tk.191/-. Mediums declined further and there were fair withdrawals in this category as well as in the plainer varieties. There were substantial withdrawals.

CTC DUST: 7,927 packages of teas met with a fair demand. Good varieties sold well but eased upto Tk.5/- to Tk.7/- closely following quality. All others sold around last levels and also saw a few withdrawals. Blenders lent good support with some interest from the Loose tea buyers.

COMMENTS: A heavier weight of tea on offer met with an easier market following less competition. Blenders were fairly active but divided freely. Loose tea buyers were rather quiet. Consequently, prices declined over a broad front particularly at the close of the auction. These resulted in heavier withdrawals than in the recent past.

Dusts sold well at slightly easier rates compared to last.
